Spring is the Best Time to Replace Your Windows

Feb 21, 2017

During the winter, we all ignore our windows unless we are continuously feeling cold air blowing through them. If you felt more cold air than usual this past winter or you are looking to increase your home’s value and curb appeal, then this is the time to schedule an appointment to have your windows replaced. Replacement windows are the perfect springtime home improvement project. Here are 3 reasons why spring is the best time to replace your windows:

We recommend that you replace your windows in the spring, because it will be more comfortable for you. You will not need to worry about cold air blowing in during the time between the old windows coming out and the new ones going in. That air is one of the same reasons why we don’t always like to replace windows in the middle of the summer. No one wants all of the heat and humidity from the summer months inside their house.

The weather can also affect how well the caulk dries after it has been applied. Latex caulk can only be used when the temperatures are between forty and eighty degrees Fahrenheit. Silicone can be used in colder temperatures, but we would need to warm it beforehand so that it goes on even and smooth and no one can guarantee that it would not crack during extremely cold temperatures.

Vinyl, aluminum, and other materials will expand and contract depending on the temperature. If the weather is too cold when your windows are installed, the caulk can crack and cause your window seal to not be as effective. Moisture can also cause the seals of your new windows from being as tight as possible.

You can have new windows installed at any time of the year, but spring is one of the best times because of the outside temperatures. We know that you want your new windows to look nice and work efficiently for many years in the future.
